So, anyway... we all know the drug war sucks, that it has completely and utterly failed and that the only ones in favor of the War On (some) Drugs are either the cartels raking in the profits from the international illegal drugs business (worth nearly 10% of the entire annual global marketplace) or those in the employ of the massive prohibition bureaucracy (the war profiteers). Please do me a favor and go sign this international petition calling for an end to the War On Drugs, here. Join the more than 300,000 of us from all across the planet who have signed in just a couple of days.
The petition will be accompanying a report to be released in a few days by the Global Commission on Drug Policy.
A single, simple yet pointed paragraph:
To Ban Ki-moon and all Heads of State:
We call on you to end the war on drugs and the prohibition regime, and move towards a system based on decriminalisation, regulation, public health and education. This 50 year old policy has failed, fuels violent organised crime, devastates lives and is costing billions. It is time for a humane and effective approach.
