Look! Up in sky! (ah! made you look!)...
The perception of the comic is a tie of sympathy with other men, a pledge of sanity, and a protection from those perverse tendencies and gloomy insanities in which fine intellects sometimes lose themselves. A rogue alive to the ludicrous is still convertible. If that sense is lost, his fellow-men can do little for him.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

OK...
firstly...
... for my dear friends on the blimp... rrr, I mean... Airship... I have been remiss in not bringing this subject into my blog. Fortunately... way back in my first postings I did mention... the project.
The Project... ? you may ask. (And if you didn't, well, there you go). Why the Airship of course! Captain Seymour (see-more?) Pettigrew's (and in fairness, to date the crew has been not been petty. Nay, to the contrary!) Airship Utopia, flying high in the skies at 20,000 feet (or more!) above Eugene's own Skinner's Butt. Oops... Butte. No spell check... heh...
But seriously... and sometimes serially... Airship Utopia is the emergence of live (with pre-recorded sketches, comercials and PSAs) comedy radio here in Eugene, Oregon. And I'm part of the crew. Thank goodness my main character is antipodal to the real me... its nice to avoid stereotyping. The brainchild of Dudley Clark, duck rancher, child rearer and absolute icon of the 21st century man, Airship Radio Theatre is now an on-air reality. White male and gentleman farmer, Dudley is the meister. The rest of us... we're the wind in the sails, the sunlight on the panels, the bacteria in the compost... that fuel the engines -- and comprise the characters that Dudley abuses in his compassionate tyrannical way -- of Utopia.
And a fine crew/cast/ensemble it is. With the likes of Dudley and his deranged cohorts in comedic crime;
- sometime instigator and chief perpetrator of gifted voice Mark Lewis;
- local radio host and keeper of the sacred archives, the always right Reverend Marc Time
- the Professor, the brains undermining it all, James Stegall;
- newbie Amy Wray, whose initial job entails being stuffed into a laptop computer... err, sorry James... iBook.
Also aboard is the amazing
- Andy Schanz, comedian and funny guy, tuba champion and a man with 25 wives.
- And me...? You can find out about me on any US Post Office wall. Or call your local Office of Homeland Insecurity.
The first transmission from the Airship Radio Theatre occurred but a mere 2 weeks and a few days ago. Carried over the airwaves of KOPT 1600 AM the Theatre appears every Saturday at noon (thats 12:00)(NOT THE MIDNIGHT 12:00)(when it is dark outside) in Eugene and surrounding burbs, villages, hamlets, outposts and secret white power enclaves, not to mention the fine folks sleeping under blue tarps in blackberry patches around the NW (thats NorthWest for you furiners).
1600 AM (yes the AM band on your radio is alive and almost well), Saturdays, 12:00, following God Talk. KOPT where those who listen are of supple and dappled minds.
So tune in and listen up! And remember to get your puppy some of those delicious Doggie Bubbles®! I've tried them myself. Mmmmm... they're doggone good!
Though it make the unskillful laugh, cannot but make the judicious grieve.
